BWL Combined Level 1 & 2 in Coaching Olympic Weightlifting (Online)
The Combined Level 1 & 2 Award in Coaching Olympic Weightlifting is designed for aspiring coaches aged 16 and over who want to develop the knowledge and skills to coach safely and effectively. The course provides a structured pathway from introductory coaching principles through to working independently as an Olympic weightlifting coach.
With a Level 2 qualification you’ll also be able to apply for a BWL Coach License
to be able to coach athletes at national competitions.
You will learn:
fundamental principles of coaching adults and children, including safety, rules of weightlifting, roles and responsibilities of a coach, and how to plan effective sessions. The course also covers key positions of the Snatch and Clean & Jerk, assistance lifts, the BWL Teaching Method, and the physical qualities required for weightlifting.
Building on these foundations, you will explore athlete psychology, effective communication, and the anatomical demands of the sport. You will learn to use the BWL Technical Model to identify errors and make coaching interventions, design progressive training sessions within a six-week block, coach individuals and groups, and gain an introduction to competition coaching.
What will this qualify me to do?
Work as an Independent coach in Olympic Weightlifting. You can also apply for a BWL Coach License to assist athletes at national competitions.
